The Harmonic Sitar.

The Harmonic Sitar keeps the performer and the hand-played sitar technique at the center. The instrument concept starts with a traditional sitar and adds a robotic/dynamic harmonic system so the resonant harmonic world of the instrument can move during performance instead of remaining fixed before the music begins.

It should be understood as robotically augmented, not automated. The technology is there to expand harmonic possibility, resonance control, and performance architecture; it is not there to replace the player or turn the sitar into a self-playing machine.

The Harmonic Sitar is still in development. This page describes the entity and its relationships inside Yoav Fekete's larger body of work; it does not present the instrument as released, commercially available, complete, patented, or production-ready.
